Chat Lingo
Bingo is a social game and has a friendly community. All good sites have chat functionality allowing you to chat to the people you are playing with online. For a lot of people this can be half of the fun of playing the game. You can get to meet people online and create friends or you can just be a chat watcher without participating. Are you a chat watcher or a chatterbox? It's really up to you, some people simply prefer reading the chat while others prefer participating whether reading or not.
All bingo rooms that have chat will also have what are known as CM's or chat moderators. Generally the CM's will take the lead in chatting and ensure a friendly atmosphere during play; they also make sure no one misbehaves ;-)
In online bingo, a certain type of chat lingo has developed and many abbreviated phrases have been adopted. If your new to the playing you will pick this up fairly quickly once you get going. In a good game of online bingo the chat will be updating almost every second and you will quickly get to grips with it. As a helping hand we have put together some of the most popular abbreviations that tend to be used online.
As anyone that has played in a real bingo hall will tell you bingo numbers are called out as part of a phrase. So 66 is called out "dirty tricks sixty six" and 24 is called out "knock on the door twenty four". This is still used in many versions of the online game, typically only for 90 ball bingo as the sayings come from the UK. However many of the online games do not call out the numbers since balls are called out much quicker in the online game. Still, here at Fantasy Bingo we prefer the old fashioned way, we think it gives the game a real charm.
We will soon be putting together a list of all of the UK's online bingo terms below. Watch this space.
