Real money bingo online using Ukash vouchers

Written by Alex Eliades, 23rd Dec 2011

Recently we did some research into the user experience of using Ukash vouchers to fund and play bingo online for money. The idea was to help our visitors choose bingo sites that they could play on using Ukash as a deposit method. Very soon we realised that although a lot of bingo sites accept Ukash vouchers they all handle withdrawals differently, which could affect their choice of operator.

To understand this better lets first outline reasons why players might want to deposit using Ukash vouchers.

  • Security – Credit cards details never need to be entered online, not even to fund a separate ewallet like Paypal or Neteller.
  • Privacy – Deposits and withdrawals from bingo sites or even ewallets will never appear on bank statements and are kept away from the prying eyes of other halves and the banks. In fact some research suggests that the banks take the types of payments processed on peoples accounts into consideration when loans are looked at.
  • Bankruptcy – Sure some people don’t have a bank account or cards because of misfortune in their past.
  • Control spending – The best way to cap the deposits a player will make in any form of gambling is to pre-buy chips, vouchers, tickets etc up to the amount that they are comfortable losing, then when it is all gone they are forced to walk away or go out of their. Playing with a bank card is different; you have access to all of the funds in your account at a click and sometimes more.

When we approached the different bingo operators that take Ukash vouchers we found that the withdrawal of winnings following a Ukash deposit was all done in very different ways with no consistency. Some operators would issue withdrawals by Ukash vouchers that could be cashed out at shops that issue Ukash, which to us seems the most logical. Others would post out cheques or make bank transfers. Some would allow withdrawals to any of the methods of deposit they offered but only if a previous deposit had been made through the method. Also, in a very similar way some would allow withdrawal through any method but the players account needed to be verified first.

Considering the reasons a player might want to make a deposit by Ukash it is important that they choose the right operator that accepts Ukash. For example if a player wanted to keep their bingo habits from their bank or at least off their bank statements then it would be no good if following a win the cash needed to be paid into the players bank account directly either by bank transfer or cheque. In a similar way if a player was bankrupt, a bank transfer would be rather useless. However, if the player simply wanted to control their spending or keep their card details offline they wouldn’t really be bothered about the withdrawal method so much but some still might pose an inconvenience and players need to be informed before they choose an operator.

So after we learned this we have put together a page that not only lists the bingo sites that accept Ukash vouchers but we have also detailed the options for withdrawal as well as outlining some of the advantages.
